LAUNCH OF THE GLYNNS 2025

 

The much-anticipated launch of The Glynns, the annual magazine of the Glens of Antrim Historical Society, took place at its AGM last week in the Parish Centre, Cushendall, with a large attendance of members and guests. In the opening business, the current Chair of the Society, Catriona Duncan, and the other members of the committee were all re-elected for a further year in office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dalriada Legends storytellers, Karen Edwards and Janice Witherspoon, then entertained the audience followed by the launch of Volume 52 of the Society’s annual journal, The Glynns, by the editor Donnell O’Loan.

 

 

 

 

 

This year’s Glynns includes fourteen varied articles about the history and culture of the Glens from Glenarm to Ballycastle. Topics covered include The Glens of Antrim Tweed Factory, Growing Flax in North Antrim, Dan McAleese: A story of Emigration and Ordnance Survey Marks (Crow’s feet!) in the Glens of Antrim.

Copies of The Glynns, price £15.00, are available at the following outlets: McLister’s, Ballycastle, Historical Society office in Mill Street, Cushendall, Glenariffe Community Centre; Carnlough Community Office and Glenarm Castle and Tourist Office

The Society’s office in Cushendall is now open from Tuesday to Thursday, 10am to 1pm.
